the oil has stopped leaking. for now. i keep thinking about the wind turbines we drove past a couple months ago on our way to visit family in iowa. they were so beautiful, so graceful. i couldn’t fathom why people saw them as eyesores. i just don’t get it.
and i keep thinking about how i just don’t get why this big oil spill/leak/disaster isn’t motivating more of us to reconsider how much energy we use, where it comes from, and what we can do to change that. what will it take for us to start thinking seriously about our energy greed? i say this, of course, as i run my window air conditioner on a hot summer afternoon, trying desperately to stay cool while pregnant. so i, right now, have the pregnancy excuse. and i know everyone else has their reasons as well.
when do our excuses become smaller than reality?
